Hey there, Linda. Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I am so excited to know that you'll be dining at California Grill. It's such an amazing dinner.
I think you'll be happy to know that you actually don't have to
pay for parking at Disney's Contemporary Resort if you are dining at
California Grill. Technically, you would be considered a day Guest and therefore will receive complimentary day parking. When you arrive at
Disney's Contemporary Resort via your car, you will be stopped at the security guard station. They'll ask you about your plans and scan your MagicBand and/or look up your reservation. They will also ask to see a photo i.d. and when everything checks out they will direct you on where to park. If you still don't feel comfortable parking at the resort, you can park at the Transportation and Ticket Center, however here you will be charged to park. Standard parking is $25.00 a day. If you've paid to park already that day, be sure to save your receipt. You won't be charged twice in one day. At the end of the night, the monorail runs at least one hour past the latest park's closing time. If you want to park there, you should have no problem getting back to your car.
I wanted to mention that even if your dinner reservation is after the
firework show at Magic Kingdom Park, as a Guest with a reservation you are still welcome to arrive early and watch the show from the observation deck. It's one of the best views in all of Walt Disney World, I wouldn't miss it! The restaurant dims the lights and pipes in the soundtrack, it's a perfect way to end the day.
I hope this helps clear up any parking confusion. If you have any other questions, I'd love for you to come back and ask me. Enjoy!
