confused!!fastpass, fastpass plus?please explain in detail.has the old system been totally phased out?can you use both?someone told me once the plus selections are used you can get more?help!! i need details that are easy to understand! my head hurts!

    Hello, Jaime!

Thank you for stopping by the Moms Panel with your great question about Disney's FastPass+ service. I've received many similar questions from friends that are planning first (or first time in forever) Walt Disney World vacations, and I'm happy to help you make sense of the changes.

Disney's FastPass+ service can be compared to making a reservation, but instead of reserving a dinner, you will reserve a time to visit the selected attraction in an accelerated line. Many -- but not all -- attractions offer a 1-hour arrival window in which you are able to visit the attraction's FastPass+ line.

Unlike the older system, the new FastPass+ service is all handled digitally. You will make your selections online and will not receive a paper slip with return times. Instead, your FastPass+ entitlements will be linked to your MagicBand or card. When you arrive for your FastPass+ window, you will simply touch your MagicBand or card to a touch point.

Guests can make up to 3 initial FastPass+ selections for 1 theme park per day in advance. Make sure to link your valid theme park admission to your Disney account so you have access to advance FastPass+ selection. Guests of the Disney Resort hotels can make FastPass+ selections up to 60 days in advance, while all other guests can make FastPass+ selections up to 30 days in advance.

After you have used your initial 3 FastPass+ entitlements (or they expire), you should be able to make an additional selection by visiting an in-park FastPass+ kiosk. The FastPass+ kiosks are marked on the park maps, and I encourage you to pick one up when you arrive just in case you need help or would like to make some adjustments.

I hope you have a magical Walt Disney World vacation, Jaime! If you have any more questions about FastPass+ planning, please do not hesitate to stop back by the Moms Panel. Happy planning!
