Ahoy there, Karen, and welcome aboard planDisney!
I see your arrival date is very soon, so I'll leave all my dad (read: bad) jokes at the door and get right down to answering your question!
I have good news! According to a ruling in 2015, all cruise lines operating from US ports are required to adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As such, the ships of the Disney Cruise Line fleet are subject to these same rules!
According to the
Disney Cruise Line Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities or Medical Conditions, the elevators on all of the Disney Cruise Line ships are compliant - though, on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, it is noted that the Midship elevators are, in fact, smaller than the Forward and Aft elevators! Guests with wheelchairs are encouraged to use the Forward and Aft elevators whenever possible, so that would be my suggestion as well! With the ADA guidelines requiring elevator doors to be 32 inches (approximately 81 centimeters) in width, this is also the width of the accessible stateroom doorways as well!
That guidebook is a wealth of information for many of the accessibility questions you may have, but if you find yourself needing additional support or details,
I would definitely suggest reaching out to Special Services using the form available on the website, through the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, or at Guest Services located on Deck 3, Midship when you embark!
I hope that helps you and your new vessel navigate your time aboard the Disney Magic, Karen! In just a few weeks, you'll be enjoying delicious meals at
Rapunzel's Royal Table,
Lumiere's, and
Animator's Palate, incredible Broadway-caliber shows, first-run movies and more while aboard - oh, and all the exciting
Ports of Call on your itinerary as well! I can't wait for you and your crew to make such magical memories!
Thank you so much for your question, and if you have any others, please drop me another line here at planDisney!
Until then, I wish you fair winds and following seas!
Andrew
