Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and the Polynesian Village Resort are some of my favorite spots in all of Walt Disney World, so I’m thrilled to answer your question. And I’m equally thrilled that Trader Sam’s recently announced they will now open at 11 AM (hours are subject to change) and is offering the mobile walk-up list option.
The mobile walk-up is just like the regular in-person walk-up list, except that you can add your name through the My Disney Experience mobile app. The walk-up list becomes available when Trader Sam’s opens for the day, and you have to be within the general vicinity of the dining location to join. So, unfortunately, no joining the walk-up list at midnight from your resort room.
While nothing quite compares to the fantastic themed decor and tropical beverages of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto (at least in my humble opinion), but there are a few spots around Walt Disney World that come close.
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is located near the pool at the Polynesian Village resort and it serves the same cocktails as the Grog Grotto. There is outdoor seating, and it’s a great spot to relax on a nice night. Then there’s
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar at Disney Springs. It’s themed to the adventures of Indiana Jones and has an awesome menu of drinks and small bites. This year, it even has a
special holiday menu.
