Hi Lynn! I am a faithful guest of the
Fort Wilderness Campgrounds at Walt Disney World. My husband and I come down for a lengthy stay every fall and often again in the spring. We have a large motor coach and bring the dogs and have the best vacations ever.
You are definitely allowed to put up a tent on the sites as well as your RV. Please note that each site can be unique with some having more room for this then others. You cannot request a site in particular but you can request that you will want to erect a tent and that will help them know what to assign you.
The Premium sites have long concrete full pads so securing a tent is more difficult on these. There isn't always a lot of room off the concrete for tents so this would be my concern with the premium choice. The
Full Hook Up sites will offer you the most room for the additional tent as they have a large chunk of the pad as hard packed sand. These sites are just as good but tend to be a little further from some of the amenities but all are connected with the internal bus system. They have recently added another Full Hook Up loop where cabins were located as the need has far surpassed what they could offer in the past.
Again please note on your reservation that you will have a large RV vehicle and give them the length and number of slides and say you will also be erecting a tent on the site. Providing as much information with your reservation will make it easier for them to accommodate you as best as they can. Enjoy!
