Hello. Could you please tell me the "scare-factor" for the Haunted Halloween carriage rides at Fort Wilderness? I'm just trying to judge it for my 8-year old. Also, do they usually sell out or could I get last minute reservations? Thank you!

    Hi Shelly!

Every child is different so it's hard to say.  Last year, when my boys were 11 and 6 and a half, we went on a Haunted Carriage Ride at Fort Wilderness.  It was a lot of fun and we're glad we did it.  However, my 6 year old was definitely scared and I kind of shielded him from seeing what was going on during the scariest part of the ride!  My wife and oldest son were startled during the scariest part and were very excited afterward!  The really "scary" part only lasts for a couple of minutes so it's pretty easy to distract a young child during that time.

It usually sells out, especially as you get closer to Halloween, so I recommend making a reservation.  Good luck with your decision!
