Hello Kristin! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel from a fellow Canuck.
Whenever my family and I travel to Walt Disney World, I usually transfer a substantial portion of my US dollars onto
Disney Gift Cards. Having been spoiled by our multi-colored currency, I find it difficult to differentiate between the denominations and become concerned I will lose track of what I have.
Putting money onto a Disney Gift Card is efficient, easy and lightens the load in my pockets as I tour around Walt Disney World.
When you purchase Disney Gift Cards at a Canadian
Disney Store, they are redeemable at Walt Disney World Resort. When you make a purchase in Walt Disney World Resort, the Canadian amount will be automatically converted to a US dollar amount based on the current market value and a remaining balance will be listed on your receipt.
If you would like that information before your first transaction, simply inquire with a Cast Member at any
Disney Owned Store or
Disney Owned dining location to run the card for a balance inquiry. I prefer to convert my own money into US dollars before placing it on a Disney Gift Card as it gives me (somewhat) more control over the rate of conversion. If I wait until I arrive, I am at the whim of the current market rate.
Walt Disney World Resort has currently extended the excellent
Canadian Multi-Day Ticket Special Offer until May 20th, 2017. It is an excellent deal for Canadians trying to plan a visit to the "house of mouse" that lessens the impact of the current weak state of the Canadian dollar.
Have a Magical Vacation!
