Could you please tell me if Guest Assistance Cards re still available for children with Autism? Planning a May 2014 trip with my daughter who has Autism. Thank you.

    Hi Leslie ~

May is right around the corner and I bet you're too excited to sleep already!

The Guest Assistance Card (GAC) has now been replaced by the Disability Access Service Card (DAS). You can request a DAS Card for your daughter by going to Guest Relations at any of the theme parks. Cast Members will ask you some questions so they can best accommodate her specific needs. They will take her photo for the DAS, go over the terms and conditions and have you sign the card.

Here are some additional details explaining how the DAS works. I've also included a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS.

Disney is committed to assisting Guests with all types of special needs including those with Cognitive Disabilities. They have put together A Resource for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (see Cognitive Disabilities link shown above) that will give you some info that may help you before and during your trip.

If your daughter has any comfort items, bring them if possible. If she has head phones or ear plugs to help keep the noise level down, bring them. If she becomes anxious, remember to relax and remove her from the situation until she calms down. If you see that she's had enough, pack it up and head back to your resort. You may not get to do everything on this trip but you can make the most of everything you do.

Please feel free to visit us with all of your questions. It is our pleasure to assist you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
