Please tell me more about what the droid actually is? Is it a robot with a remote? Is there an app we can use code for it? I understand that they build it and it can interact with other stuff at the park. How do we use it when we're at home? Thank you

    Hey Kathryn,

Welcome to planDisney! You might remember when Luke Skywalker and his Uncle Owen purchased R2-D2 and C-3PO from the Jawas. While Uncle Owen wasn’t thrilled with the options available from the Jawas, at Droid Depot you’ll have the chance to customize your R-series or BB-series unit.

The droid you build at Droid Depot is controlled by a remote. The droid uses Bluetooth to interact with other droids and elements around Batuu. No coding necessary! The instruction manuals for the BB-Series and R-Series are available on the Walt Disney World Droid Depot page, so you can get a preview of how to use the remote. I often see people showing off their new droids just outside of Droid Depot, and sometimes Rey and Chewie even stop by!

As far as how to use them at home, my kids like to set up an obstacle course and take turns guiding their BB unit around. You can also download the Droid Depot app to connect with your droid to play games, create a dance sequence to a song from DJ R3X, and control your droid with your phone.

I hope this helps, Kathryn! My family is hoping to return to Droid Depot to make another droid soon! If you have any more questions, we’d love to help you plan more of your Disney vacation details at planDisney!
