Can you please tell me what the difference is between Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay

Well, hello Heidi! Welcome back to planDisney! We sure love when you cruise by!

Disney Cruise Line has several itineraries that include a day at Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point - and sometimes a day at both! Sounds like you're debating which one might be the best fit for your family. Or maybe you'd like to experience the best of both worlds! Either way, let's dive right in.

Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay (pronounced "Key") are both private destinations in The Bahamas exclusively for Disney Cruise Line Guests and both provide excellent service, fun activities, delicious food, and adult-only areas. Overall, Heidi, you're going to have an amazing day at either one.

However, they do offer unique experiences infused with their own special charm, so let's discuss those.

At Castaway Cay you'll find a variety of structured activities you won't find at Lookout Cay - like a 5k route, paddle boards and water bikes! It's a breeze to get on and off the ship, no long dock! And the water is protected from waves, due to being in a little cove (whereas Lookout Cay is open ocean). In my opinion, with its whimsical touches, Castaway Cay is ideal especially for young children and first-time cruisers looking for that classic Disney beach experience.

Lookout Cay is Disney's newest private destination and has been broadly praised for its culturally rich, immersive Bahamian experience. While I haven't personally had the chance to experience Lookout Cay (yet!), I spoke with a couple of my planDisney pals who have, and they provided some great insights! My pal, Dustin, mentioned that Lookout Cay has the Goombay Cultural Center which features a Junkanoo street parade to celebrate the traditions and natural beauty of The Bahamas. And Jana participated in a private tour to multiple sites on the island and found the excursions to be very unique. Lookout Cay represents Disney's evolution and is very environmentally friendly, as well. A fantastic option.

I hope that's helpful, Heidi, and you've learned something new today - I know I have!

Have a magical day and we'll see ya real soon!

Hello from the Pacific Northwest! I'm McCayla, a wife and mom dreaming of adventure in the great wide somewhere, yet also completely content watching Toy Story from the couch. My love of Disneyland began as a little girl on Peter Pan's Flight and only grows with each visit. But even when I'm not physically at the Happiest Place on Earth, I truly feel that same joy when I can help others (YOU!) experience the magic of Disneyland Resort too.
