Welcome to planDisney Ellie, and thank you for stopping by with such a wonderful question! I’m so excited to help you as you plan your very first trip to the
Walt Disney World Resort. With twelve magical days ahead and a special celebration for your daughter’s birthday, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure. Planning for a larger group that includes both adults and kids can feel overwhelming at first, but with the right balance of park time, rest days, and magical extras, you’ll be able to create memories together that will last a lifetime. I’d love to share a suggested itinerary to help you make the most of your time.
When you arrive, the best way to start your vacation is with a relaxed resort day. You can settle in, explore your hotel, let the kids enjoy the pool, and take your time unpacking. That first evening is a wonderful time to head to
Disney Springs for dinner and a little shopping. It sets the mood for the adventure ahead without feeling rushed after travel.
On your first full day, begin with Magic Kingdom. Nothing captures the essence of Disney more than walking down Main Street and seeing the castle for the first time. After a mid-day break at the resort, you can return in the evening to watch the fireworks light up the castle, a memory that always sticks with families.
EPCOT makes a perfect next stop. Between soaring on Guardians of the Galaxy, gliding over landscapes in Soarin’, and exploring the World Showcase, there’s something for everyone. The kids will enjoy Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After, while the adults can take in the cultural touches of each pavilion. Staying for the nighttime spectacular brings the day to a magical close.
After two busy park days, a slower day at your resort is a welcome treat. Sleep in, enjoy the pool, and perhaps take the family for dinner at another resort such as Ohana at the Polynesian or Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary. These character meals keep the Disney magic alive even outside the parks and let everyone recharge.
Hollywood Studios comes next and is a favorite of mine! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a must do, and both Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon are incredibly immersive. Toy Story Land is perfect for the kids, while the older ones may brave Tower of Terror and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. Ending the night with Fantasmic! is a highlight.
Animal Kingdom offers a completely different atmosphere. Start with an early safari when the animals are most active, then wander into Pandora for Flight of Passage. The Festival of the Lion King is a must see show.
Before your trip winds down, another rest day gives you time to enjoy your resort fully. It’s also a chance to book something special, like the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, a dinner show filled with music, laughter, and hearty food that’s perfect for families.
On your last full day in the parks, you can return to Hollywood Studios or even hop between parks depending on your family’s favorite rides. Ending the evening at EPCOT or Magic Kingdom is a nice way to close out the adventure on a high note.
Ellie, I hope this itinerary helps you feel excited and prepared for your very first Walt Disney World adventure. With so many magical days ahead and a milestone birthday to celebrate, you and your family are sure to make memories you’ll treasure forever. Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your question. Wishing you a truly unforgettable vacation filled with laughter, joy, and pixie-dusted moments from start to finish!
