Hi Amanda,
Welcome to planDisney!
Oh, I LOVE surprises that involve trips to the Walt Disney World Resort!
While we no longer mail brochures, there are a number of resources available online that might help you unveil your surprise. If you go to the link for each theme park, you can download a park map. On the
Magic Kingdom web page, for example, you can click on map and then click the arrow underneath the map to download and/or print a copy.
When I surprised our girls with a trip a few years ago, I created a scavenger hunt with clues hidden around the house. At the end of the scavenger hunt were two gift bags. One bag had
new Disney t-shirts for us to wear. Another had our new
MagicBands in it. My husband recorded the girls doing the scavenger hunt and their sheer joy when figuring out that we were going to Walt Disney World was priceless!
When we planned our earlier trips, we also checked out books on Walt Disney World from our local public library. I also just purchased the
History magazine which features Walt Disney: Real Stories Behind the Legend. This might be a great addition to your surprise basket!
Amanda, get creative! I love the Walt Disney World Resort because of the spirit of Imagineering that lives throughout the parks and resorts. It is that creative spirit that might inspire you to design a really special surprise for your friends.
Magic and memories,
Donyell
