Hi Bryan,
It sounds like you'd like to be at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts that are located on the monorail:
Contemporary,
Polynesian, or
Grand Floridian. All three of these are deluxe resorts that offer great dining experiences as well as easy access to the Magic Kingdom. In fact, you can walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary since it is so close. I'd visit each of the above links to see which would best meet your needs and preferences. I do need to point out that since these are deluxe resorts that are most costly. If you visit
here, you can read about current special offers. If you'd like some other ideas about other choices to reflect other budgets, we are glad to help.
As for itinerary planning, I highly recommend visiting www.touringplans.com which offers many specific touring plans to help you make the most of your days at the park, including advice on which park to visit and which to avoid on specific dates. Through extensive research and then more research, the over 100 plans that are offered are incredibly helpful. There is a small cost, but one that I think is well worth the investment.
I'd also encourage you to begin looking at dining options. I really like www.disneyfoodblog.com as well as visiting
here to study the many, many choices available. You can begin to make dining reservations when you are 180 days away from your arrival date.
