Welcome to planDisney, Tracy! I'm so glad I get to answer your question today about my favorite part of a vacation to Walt Disney World:
the food. The
Disney Dining Plan is a great way to try all your favorite treats at the Most Magical Place on Earth, and I'm happy to walk you through exactly how it works.
On the
Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan, each quick-service meal includes one entrée and one beverage, and yes, for guests 21 and over, that beverage can be an alcoholic drink if the location offers it. Dessert is not included as part of the quick-service meal itself.
If you're eyeing a slice of cheesecake or a cupcake when you pick up your entrée, you've got two easy options. You can simply purchase it out of pocket, or you can use one of your daily Snacks to cover it. Most bakery-style desserts, including cupcakes, cookies, pastries, and many grab-and-go sweets, are typically classified as Snacks on the plan. When you're at the register or browsing the mobile order menu, look for the little "Snack" icon next to the item name. That's your green light that it can be redeemed with a Snack!
The setup is actually pretty flexible. Want to keep lunch light? Use the meal for an entrée and a beverage, then save your Snack for a mid-afternoon treat. Or, if you love dessert right after you eat, just redeem the Snack at the same time and enjoy that cheesecake or cupcake with your meal; totally allowed!
I hope this answers your question, Tracy, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
