Please help! We are from Texas and not well traveled. My husband and I want to start taking family vacations starting 2011. This will be our sons first vaca, he will be 7. We want to go to WDW but really dont know where to start. We like all-inclusive.

    Hi Andrea!

Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel! To help you plan your vacation, I would first consider your budget. From there, you can decide how many days to stay and which kind of resort you'd like to stay at. Walt Disney World Resort has over 20 resorts, and they range from Value, Moderate, Deluxe, to Deluxe Villas.

You may then decide what kinds of tickets to purchase. There are Magic Your Way base tickets which you can purchase for the number of days of your visit. You can add to the base tickets by selecting options such as Park Hoppers, More Fun Options, and no expiration options. Park Hopper allows you to visit more than one Disney park in the same day. You may or may not need these, and it's really a preference. Most first time visitors find that there is more than enough to do at each park to fill one day that a Park Hopper isn't necessary to have fun. More Fun Options include admission to Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Oak Trail golf course, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and DisneyQuest. The no expiration option allows you to save any unused days on your tickets for a future visit without having them expire.

It sounds like you may be interested in a vacation package, which will include you resort stay, park tickets, and the Disney Dining Plan. There are a few dining plans available, and again you will choose depending on your preference, but the dining plans are available from simple quick service plans, to table service plans, all the way up to deluxe dining plans. These plans can help you save money on your dining, and can be a great convenience. This is just the start to planning your magical vacation, but I'm limited on space. I'll be happy to help you in the rest of your planning, so feel free to submit follow up questions!
