Please help! We purchased our tickets in December, but didn’t notice the reservation requirement. We are trying to see our daughter perform and she will only be there one day. Now the reservations are full. What can we do?

Hiya, Susan! Thanks for stopping by with your question!

Oh my goodness! In just a few short days, you'll be headed out on your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! How exciting!

It sounds like the word has spread about Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration, so it's a little crowded these days with people arriving to join in on the fun before the celebration ends! So, that brings us to your question, Susan! Argh, I am so sorry to hear that Theme Park Reservations are booked up for the day of your visit! But, all is not lost, Susan! We may be able to find a solution for you!

First, you'll want to keep a close eye on that Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar in the days leading up to your visit. Sometimes, as Guests change their plans or capacity changes, availability can pop up. Of course, it doesn't happen all the time, but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.

It sounds like your daughter may be performing in a particular park, so your best bet may be to purchase the park hopper option with your ticket to be able to visit your preferred park that day. A Theme Park Reservation is required for the first park you plan to visit each day. Then, and after 2 p.m., you can hop over to another park without needing a reservation, as long as your ticket includes the park hopper option. So, you will want to book your Theme Park Reservation at ANY available park, enjoy your morning there, and then head over after 2 p.m. to hopefully catch your daughter's performance. Keep in mind that you do need to physically enter that first park before you can hop over to another one.

However, given that you are visiting during a busy week, there IS a chance that the park will be at capacity and will no longer be accepting park hoppers. To check this before heading over, you can give this nifty hotline a call (407) 560-5000 and find out the availability status of the theme parks. If any parks are at capacity with no park hopper access, there will be a recorded message on that line.

Susan, there is the unfortunate chance that all parks will be reserved, and you will not be able to enter any that day. I know this is a major bummer, but there is still so much fun to be had at Walt Disney World without ever entering a theme park! Perhaps you can enjoy an afternoon at Disney Springs to check out some of their incredible shops and restaurants. In fact, one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the world is located in Disney Springs - Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'. Their fried chicken will blow you away! If you do visit Disney Springs, don't leave without stopping over at Gideon's Bakehouse. They have the most incredible cookies and baked goods. I promise you've never had a cookie like this before!

I do hope that my answer has been helpful to you, Susan! As you continue to prep for your upcoming visit, know that we are here to help you make the most of your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation. So, please visit us again with any questions you may have.

    Until next time,
