Hello! Could you please explain how a side-by-side cruise works at Port Everglades for the Disney Dream and Disney Destiny? Is it easy to transfer luggage between the ships? Additionally, how do guests travel from one ship to the other? Thank you

    Ahoy, Vanessa!

Welcome back to planDisney! You’re about to set sail on an adventure worthy of a double feature—two magical voyages aboard two different ships! It’s like stepping out of one Disney storybook and right into the next.

Now, a side-by-side sailing is a fantastic way to experience the unique offerings of two different ships, but unlike a traditional back-to-back cruise on the same ship, it doesn’t come with seamless onboard transitions. Instead, think of it as a mini land-and-sea adventure in between your sailings! Once your first cruise ends, you’ll need to pack up all your belongings, clear U.S. Customs with your luggage, and make your way over to the new terminal for check-in on your next ship. Consider it a fun little intermission before the magic continues!

Disney Cruise Line keeps track of all side-by-side and back-to-back cruisers, so there’s no need to notify them in advance. You’ll receive instructions from Guest Services onboard your first sailing detailing the disembarkation process, luggage handling, and transportation to the next terminal. If you don’t receive this information by the final night of your first voyage, just swing by Guest Services after dinner to confirm your transfer details.

Since this is treated as a brand-new cruise, you’ll go through the regular check-in process again, which means having all your travel documents handy in your carry-on bag. Be sure to pack anything you might need before your new stateroom is ready, like medications, swimsuits, sunscreen, and—of course—a sense of adventure!

Now, as of today, both the Disney Dream and Disney Destiny are scheduled to sail from Terminal 4 at Port Everglades, but usually when two ships are in port on the same day, one will shift over to Terminal 26. The best way to stay ahead of the game is to keep an eye on the Disney Cruise Line website as your sail date approaches for any updates on embarkation logistics.

No matter which ship you’re stepping onto next, your adventure is bound to be filled with dazzling entertainment, world-class dining, and plenty of pixie-dusted moments! If you have any more questions, just say the word—I’m always happy to help make your high-seas dreams come true.

Sea ya real soon with luck in the air and magic everywhere,
    Dustin
