Hello! Could you please explain Lightning Lane and Lightning Lane+ in layman's terms? (how I could explain them to a guest).

    Hi Jamie!

Welcome to planDisney!  I'm glad you stopped by for a bit more clarity on the new Lightning Lane passes before your trip next month.  Let's see if we can help break down all the details so you can channel your inner Lightning McQueen and race to the front of the queues faster than faster and quicker than quicker!

Jamie, there are currently two types of Lightning Lane passes - Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.  Both of these passes are available for pre-arrival purchase and allow you to bypass the standby lines for some of your must-do attractions.  If you are a Guest staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can begin making your selections and purchases seven days before your check-in date for the length of your stay (up to 14 days).  All other Guests can begin purchasing three days before their theme park visit.  Pricing for Lightning Lane passes will vary based on the date, theme park, and/or attraction.  Your Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass purchases are non-refundable, but they can be modified after purchase based on availability.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass offers you the opportunity to pre-select three attractions where you can use Lightning Lane entry.  Even if your theme park ticket includes the Park Hopper Option, you must select your initial Lightning Lane attractions all from the same park.  For Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT, you'll find two groups of attractions.  At these parks, you can select one attraction from the first group and two attractions from the second. . .or all three from the second group.  Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, there is only one group of attractions.  Once you redeem your first selection, you can choose an additional attraction (based on availability) and that attraction can be from any theme park if you are planning to park hop that day.  This "use one, get one" benefit will continue throughout your day as long as attractions remain available.  If you're purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass for a group, all of your initial selections must be the same, but you can modify plans for select members of your group if there are some attractions that not everyone in the party wants to enjoy after your purchase is complete.

Lightning Lane Single Pass is available for a select ride or two in each theme park as an à la carte purchase.  You can purchase up to two Lightning Lane Single Passes per day and they can be purchased along with or separate from Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Whether you're using Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Single Pass, you can manage your purchases and make changes to your selections using your My Disney Experience Mobile App.

Jamie, I know this is a lot of information to process and we're continuing to learn more and more as the days and weeks pass.  I hope this information is helpful and encourage you to stop by to see us again if you have any other questions so we can help you get to the checkered flag of your vacation planning checklist and ready to have the most magical vacation ever!

    Happy Planning!
