Hi moms! Can you please describe the vibe of visiting in early October.. Im trying to figure when to visit( FYI we wont be purchasing the MNSSHP TICKETS). Also what do think on the subject of pulling kids out of school?

    Hi Janette!

Early October is a great time to visit!  Still very much warm enough to swim and enjoy the pool, but the crowds are less substantial.  October is one of our favorite times of year to visit Walt Disney World, and we've enjoyed our October vacations immensely.

Ahhh...pulling kids out of school.  This, can always be a hot-button topic so to speak.  I will tell you what we do, which doesn't make it right, but it is what we do.

We take our kids out.  Right now, my oldest is 8, so taking him out isn't a huge deal.  We make sure to take them out during a time where there isn't important testing occurring, and speak with each teacher at length about where each of our children stands, and what will need to be made up while we are away.  I'm always very honest and open about what we'll be doing, and let them know well in advance when they'll be out.  I know it will become more difficult as they get older, but right now it works for us.

Make sure you check with your district about the absence policy.  In some, if your child is out x days, action can be taken to hold the child back in their current grade level, or time away must be made up through extra hours (Saturday school, etc).

As a former teacher, I absolutely value our children's education, but our family time is just as important.  It's much easier for my husband to get away from his job at certain times of the year, so we have to take advantage of those times.

    Have a magical vacation!
