Can you please clarify for me when reservations for DVC villas can be made by non DVC members? I continue to get inconsistent information even from Disney staff members. Is it at the 11 month mark? 9 month? Essential information for planning! Thank you!

    Hi Tami!

Thank you for sending your question to me directly.  I really appreciate it.

I have had the privilege of staying in several Disney Vacation Club properties throughout the years even though I'm not a DVC member.  These are referred to as Disney Deluxe Villas to the non-DVC initiated.  My two favorite locations are the Villas at Wilderness Lodge and the Beach Club Villas.  However, I'm not always able to get in to those two.

Based on my personal experience, it is not consistent across the properties.  Many times I have wanted to make a reservation for the Villas at Wilderness Lodge or the Beach Club Villas only to  be told that reservations aren't being accepted there yet for non-DVC members, but on the exact same day I could make a reservation at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West.  I have had more problems making a reservation at Bay Lake Tower, especially during the holiday season.  For example, last year we tried to make a reservation at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.  At about 8 months out, I was told I couldn't but could make a reservation at Old Key West.  At six months I checked back and was still told I couldn't, but I could switch to the Beach Club Villas (my second choice) and did so.  However, at about 3 months out, I was finally able to successfully make a reservation for a one bedroom villa at the Wilderness Lodge.  I have noticed that getting a studio room at a Deluxe Villa is generally easier than getting a 1 or 2 bedroom villa.

My recommendation is to make a list in priority order and then make a reservation as soon as possible.  Just know you might have to call back throughout the year to get what you really want such as the case for me last year.  I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you, but please write back with more questions!
