    Teresa from MI Asked

Please advise if there is any possibility of WDW bringing back the dining plan. Loved it before, want it back ! :)

Hey there, Teresa! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

I don't know if you've seen the news yet, but Walt Disney World just announced that they will, indeed, be bringing back the Disney Dining Plan. They know that it is a fan favorite and the announcement last week has people all kinds of excited. However, the return date for the Disney Dining Plan has not been released. I don't think it will return until more of the restaurants are open throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. I have my fingers crossed that it will return before your Walt Disney World vacation next year. In my opinion, I think it is a likely possibility. If it does return, you will be able to add it on to your existing Walt Disney World vacation package. Before the Disney Dining Plan was suspended last year, Guests were able to add it on to their vacation packages up to 48 hours prior to arrival. I'm sure it will look similar to this again.

Until the Disney Dining Plan returns, Teresa, I've been picking up Disney Gift Cards to use on dining during my vacations. It is similar to the Disney Dining Plan because it is prepaid and has to be used for something at Walt Disney World. I like to add one to my grocery cart each week. It doesn't add a lot to the bill but over time it is easy to collect a lot of them. If the Disney Dining Plan returns and you've started to stockpile Disney Gift Cards, you can always use them to pay off your vacation balance so it is a win-win.

I know you've got to be excited about the return of the Disney Dining Plan, just like I was! If you have any other planning questions before your trip next summer, please feel free to come back and ask me. I'm happy to help!

    Have a great day!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
