Hi Deborah,
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question, and welcome! I love this question because I love that you’re planning in advance, and I also adore Moana and cannot wait for my chance to meet her at Walt Disney World.
Before I get to your question, I have a question for you:
is Moana a princess? According to Maui, she wears a dress and has an animal sidekick, so she's a princess. Moana, though, insists that she is the daughter of a chief, and we see her placing her shell on top of the village chiefs’ rocks at the end of the movie (and at this point in the movie, I am crying like Hei Hei after another beak incident). Princess, Chief, or both, she is a leader and a wonderful role model. I just adore her.
Deborah, I have all my fingers crossed that the line where the sky meets the castle calls Moana back from her ocean voyaging and to Walt Disney World sometime soon. Right now, we just don’t know. She has appeared at various special ticketed events, including last year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, before heading back out to sea with her people. You can currently see her in Fantasmic! during Mickey’s dream at the end of the show, but she does not meet Guests. My advice is to keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for announcements about her return to Walt Disney World.
I hope you’ll come back to see us if you have any more questions as your vacation draws nearer. In the meantime, I’m right there with you in hoping we see Moana in the parks soon – after all, she knows the way!
When I look to the future – there you are in 2020! Happy planning!
