Hi, We will be there from 05/21 to 05/29. On the 21st we have plans for a different park but for the 22nd to the 28th we have 1 ticket for each of the DW parks. Considering memorial day/weekend crowds, what parks would you recommend each day? Thank you!

    Hi Estefana,

    Welcome to planDisney!

With your trip happening during a holiday time, I understand your question! My family has visited in May before and, honestly, the crowds were more manageable than I expected. While we were not there during the Memorial Day holiday, we were there for Mother's Day and the week afterwards. My first suggestion would be to check the park hours for the dates of your visit. If you are staying at a Disney Deluxe, Deluxe Villa, or other select resort hotel, also check the park hours for Extended Theme Park Hours. Currently, for Memorial Day, Magic Kingdom has extended theme park hours scheduled from 9:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. for those eligible guests.

Currently, there are a few Disney After Hours events I suggest you consider. On May 22nd, there is an After Hours event at Disney's Hollywood Studios. On May 23rd, there is an After Hours event at EPCOT. In my experience, crowds during the day have been a little lighter on days that there are events after park closing. So you actually may want to plan to go to Disney's Hollywood Studios on the 22nd and to EPCOT on the 23rd for the regular park hours.

Given the After Hours events, I think you could visit Disney's Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom theme parks on that Saturday and Sunday. Since the weekends might draw crowds at Magic Kingdom, consider splitting your time - arrive at park opening, stay through lunch, head back to the resort to relax, and then head back to the park in the late afternoon. We use this strategy on Christmas Day in Magic Kingdom. Or, you could avoid Magic Kingdom on the weekend days and use one of those days as a resort day. Always consider park closing times as well so that you can maximize your time in the parks.

Honestly any time of year could be crowded in the parks, so we just plan accordingly. At Magic Kingdom, consider buying Disney Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane Entry. Remember to make advanced dining reservations. We use dining reservations to make sure we can experience a few character meals and other popular restaurants like Space 220 Lounge. Whatever you do, just map out each day of your visit.

Estefana, keep in mind that some dining locations may be easier to book towards the end of your visit and check other special experiences. As you review the park hours, for example, check the fireworks times at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. And double-check those park hours just before your visit. We are all delighted to watch the progress on Tiana's Bayou Adventure. So, in the spirit of Princess Tiana, I sent a wish to the Evening Star trusting that you will finalize those park plans!

    Magic and memories,
