Well, hey there, Dale! I am so happy to welcome you to planDisney! Thank you for this great question! Since my kids are older, I often find myself enjoying adult only trips, whether that is with my husband or with my best friend of 32 years, who also happens to be my best Disney visiting pal!
Disneyland has my heart because it truly is for everyone! Young families, teen families, friend groups, and couples can all have an amazing time. From kids to kids at heart,
Disneyland Resort caters to them all!
To start, if possible, I highly recommend staying at least one night onsite in one of the three
Disneyland Resort Hotels. The immersive experience of being in the magic from start to finish, along with very comfortable accommodations and fantastic lounges and bars, elevates your visit from fun in the sun to a relaxing and stylish escape filled with just the right amount of pixie dust. My personal favorite is Disney’s Grand Californian. The location cannot be beat, with a special direct entrance to Disney California Adventure, and the lobby instantly transports you to a grand Redwood Lodge deep in the Sierras. You cannot go wrong with any of the hotels though! The original Disneyland Hotel offers nostalgic, beautiful rooms with classic Mickey and Walt touches. Pixar Place Hotel is pure fun, filled with bright colors and Pixar art everywhere you look.
For an adult only trip, I love choosing one signature dining experience. Whether that is a Dining Package that includes a show or parade reservation, like the
Premium Dining Package at River Belle Terrace with reserved viewing for Fantasmic!, or a fun and immersive experience at the
Blue Bayou Restaurant, it turns the evening into a special occasion for any visit.
I also recommend booking a tour you might not normally try. The
Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour includes a sweet treat, wonderful stories about Walt’s love of trains, and the unforgettable chance to ride in the Presidential Car of the Disneyland Railroad, the Lilly Belle.
Now, make sure not to skip the attractions! You want those memories just as much as anyone else. Maybe you want to dive into the thrill rides. Maybe a slower, storytelling attraction fits your pace. Either way, you can sort attractions in the
Disneyland Mobile app by thrill level and age level to help plan your day.
If you enjoy a cocktail now and again, make sure to stop at
Lamplight Lounge for gastropub fare and signature drinks. The Hero Work Cocktail is truly chef’s kiss!
Dale, you are gearing up for a lifetime memory in the making kind of trip! I hope you have the most magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! If you have more questions, please come back and see me. I would be more than happy to help!
