I’ve been planning on take my younger sister with me on a Disney cruise. I will be 19 and she will be 11. It would just be the two of us would I be able to take her alone?

    Hi, Hay! Welcome to planDisney.

Your question warms my heart! As we learned from Anna and Elsa, there’s no better friend than a sister, and based on your question, no better sister than you! I spoke to a Disney Cruise Line reservation agent, and she shared that an adult 21 years or older must be on the reservation with a Guest who is under 18 years old. I know this is not the news you hoped to hear, but I do have another suggestion.

When I graduated from college, I wanted to go somewhere to celebrate, so I took my younger brother and sister to Walt Disney World Resort. We had such a great time talking and laughing together. The good news is that the minimum age to book a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel is 18. The Little Mermaid-inspired rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will give you the perfect cruise vibe. Then in a couple more years, you and your sister can flip your fins on a Disney Cruise.

Hay, I promise that the time you spend with your sister will be magical no matter where you drop anchor. Please revisit planDisney if you need help planning your Walt Disney World Resort stay or when you’re ready to book your Disney Cruise. We can't wait to see you again!

Meet the Panelist: Tracie, Florida

Ahoy! Just like Moana, I feel the irresistible call of the sea. I think the best vacation is aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship – thankfully, my family agrees. Whether savoring gelato in Italy, snorkeling in Mexico, or basking in the sea breeze on deck, each destination fills us with memories to last a lifetime. I look forward to helping your family plan a Disney Cruise Line adventure brimming with cherished moments!
