We are planning a weekend trip to stay at a Disney onsite hotel and hang around downtown disney for my daughter's 2nd birthday with my husband and I, and the 2 grandmothers. Which hotel would be the most fun for a 2 year old?

    Rebecca:

I'm the eternal optimist when it comes to staying on Disney property, maintaining that there's something for everyone at EVERY resort, especially for a two-year-old whose only memory may be pictures...but here are some that stand out:

    • The Contemporary Resort: Kids 2 to 102 get excited upon seeing the monorail zoom through the resort. There's something extra magical about stepping off of it and walking into your hotel room just minutes later. With her age, you may also find yourself back in your room earlier than you'd like. With a theme-park view, you can enjoy the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. Don't miss out on booking a meal at Chef Mickey's--especially your first evening or morning--so that she can experience Mickey's and Minnie's undivided attention and get those "must-have" shots checked off early in the vacation.
    • Art of Animation: The murals on the walls of the entire resort bring many characters from the movies alive. The themes are carried out to the pool where sea creatures send out spurts of water. You'll also enjoy the zero-entry that is more inviting for her, and possibly the grandmothers. Getting a suite will allow you to put her down in the bedroom while the rest of you relax in the living area.
    • All-Star Movies: If you're watching your budget, this resort is the answer. Larger-than-life statues of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Dalmatians and more are situated around the buildings. While the rooms are not as large as the Contemporary, it fits the bill for fun on a budget.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
