Hi...we are planning our 1st WDW vacation and are wondering what month would be best, December or February, when it comes to weather and crowds. Also, are there enough activities for 2 &5 yr old at Ft. Wilderness during either month?

    Jenny:

Weather can be rather unpredictable during both December and February...you can have highs of over 75 degrees one day and be hit with lows in the 30s another. I've been four times in December and twice in February and have loved the weather except the time it rained in February...and when it rained in December....so even rain can dampen those months!

    Crowds are another story.

Besides the President's Day weekend in February, crowds are relatively low to moderate for the rest of that month. But in December, folks are hearing crowds are moderate and even the low weeks preceeding the Christmas holidays have become more full over the past few years, leaving only the first few days after Thanksgiving and then a few days in the second week of December for low to moderate crowds.

If I had to pick a week, I'd go with the week right after Thanksgiving for nice weather and low crowds. Why? Christmas decorations are up, both at Fort Wilderness (your kids will enjoy all the campsite decorations) and at the parks. A nice added bonus. And with the pony rides, playgrounds, campfire sing-a-long and pier at the fort, it's one of the best resorts for child activities year-round!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
