We're planning on a WDW vacation, staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We are wondering how the ticketing works when you stay at a resort in a WDW Park? Would we still need a ticket to visit the Animal Kingdom park...not sure how this all works.

    Hi Rea,

Are you an animal lover?  Are you enchanted by the exotic creatures of the African savanna?  If so, you are in for such a treat at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  There's nothing quite like watching giraffes graze right outside your balcony.

Disney's four major theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Disney's Animal Kingdom) and two water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon) require an admission fee for all guests, even those staying at a Disney owned resort.  The most cost-effective way to purchase tickets is by ordering them as multi-day passes either through the Disney travel office or your local travel agent.  Guests who purchase theme park tickets in conjunction with their room reservation also qualify to add the Disney Dining Plan to their reservation if they wish.  Doing so will save you considerable money as you dine throughout Disney property.

Guests who have room-only reservations at a Disney resort are certainly not required to purchase theme park tickets if they don't wish to visit the theme parks.  However, if you, like most Disney guests, plan to spend time at the theme parks or water parks, you will need to purchase theme park passes.

If you'd like some advice regarding which type of passes to buy, don't hesitate to post a follow-up question.  We'd be happy to help you pick the tickets that would best serve your needs.

Wishing you a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
