I am planning a WDW vacation & most likely will be staying in a DIsney resort. However, I am wondering if you need a pass for access to the monorail or other DIsney transportation if we end up staying on-property in a non-Disney owned hotel? Thanks,

No special pass to get on the Monorail or Disney Transportation, because you are a guest.  Whether you are staying at a Disney Resort or outside of Disney.  When you arrive to the park, if you're driving and not staying at a Disney hotel, you will be required to pay parking.  Which will allow you the opportunity to ride the monorail.  You can't go to the hotels and park, as each of the resort areas are gated.  The only place that has no pay parking is Downtown Disney.  You can access busses from there to the hotels, parks and the monorail.  Heather M.
