We are planning a WDW vacation for late this year. There is also a possibility that later this year we will buy Annual passes. If a book a vacation package now, and pay the $200 deposit, what happens if I get an annual pass? Can I cancel the tickets?

Hi there, Brandon! Welcome to planDisney. This is such a smart question to ask ahead of time, and I'm really glad you're thinking through your options before locking anything in. Annual Passes can be a fantastic value, but they do add an extra layer of planning when you're booking a vacation package in advance.

When you book a Walt Disney World vacation package, the Theme Park tickets included in that package are tied directly to it. Because of that, there isn't a way to cancel just the tickets while keeping the rest of the package intact. If you were to fully remove the tickets, that would require canceling the entire vacation package and starting over, which usually isn't ideal, especially once deposits, availability, and pricing come into play.

That said, the good news is that this situation is far from a dead end. If you decide later on that purchasing Annual Passes makes more sense for you, there is a very flexible and Guest-friendly workaround. Instead of canceling your tickets, you can simply upgrade them. Disney allows you to apply the value of your Theme Park tickets toward an Annual Pass by paying the difference in price.

To do this, you'll want to stop by a ticketing window or a Guest Relations location at Walt Disney World before the final day your tickets are valid. A Cast Member will be able to look at your existing tickets, calculate the price difference, and help you convert them into Annual Passes right there. It's a smooth process, and one Disney handles all the time.

So if you're comfortable booking your package now and securing your dates with the deposit, you can absolutely do that with peace of mind. You're not locking yourself out of Annual Passes later, you're just keeping your options open until you're ready to decide.

Brandon, I hope this helps you feel confident moving forward with your planning. Whether you stick with tickets or make the jump to Annual Passes, you're setting yourself up for a year full of Disney magic, and that's always a win! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. We're always available and more than happy to help here at planDisney.
