We am planning on visiting WDW in early September. We will be bringing our 10 year old son. Which resort would be the best to stay at Old Key West, Saratoga Springs or Wilderness lodge? Thanks for your help!

    Tamara:

Hands down, I recommend Wilderness Lodge. Here's why:

    1. September means hot weather, and the lodge has the best pool experience of the three you've listed. From its geyser to its slide, it's simply more appealing to the younger set than the others, which, in my opinion are better suited for couples.
    2. Theme. Wilderness Lodge has one of the best themes of ANY of the hotels, let alone OKW and Saratoga Springs. From the moment you enter the stories-tall lobby, you are whisked away to a simpler time when the National Parks were celebrated. Take the time to sit in the rockers near the fireplace and create a mental snapshot of years ago.
    3. Dining. Although Whispering Canyon Cafe may score highest with your son on the fun scale, you may also want to check out Artist Point. I ordered the Buffalo Steak and risotto on my visit last fall and still remember how tasty it was.
    4. Proximity to Magic Kingdom. You have to take a bus to all the theme parks from OKW and SS, and the same is true for Wilderness Lodge EXCEPT that you can take a boat to the Magic Kingdom, a ride in itself. Best of all, I've found that the buses at the lodge are more plentiful than those at Saratoga Springs.
    5. Hidden Mickey's. If your 10-year-old is like mine, he enjoys a good game. Wilderness Lodge has many "Hidden Mickey's" throughout the resort and it's always fun to see how many you can find during your stay!
    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
