Hi. We are planning on visiting the parks the first week of New Years and was hoping the lights would still be up. I haven’t been able to confirm that anywhere. I see that the Xmas themed parades end in December but hope the lights might still be up??

Hi, Patrick!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

A visit to the Walt Disney World Resort sounds like the perfect, pixie-dusted way to kick off the new year!  Although the holiday entertainment will have ended by the time you arrive, I think there is a good chance that you will still be able to take in the beauty of those twinkling holiday lights adorning Cinderella Castle.

There really is no set yearly date that the Christmas decorations start to come down.  However, in previous years, the decorations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels have been put away shortly after New Year's Day.  The decorations at the theme parks tend to stay up slightly longer, often through the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.  This year's Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is scheduled for January 9, 2020 - January 12, 2020.  While I cannot say for certain if the holiday decorations will remain in place for that long this year, I think it is likely that you will get to see them during your visit.

For the latest announcements about all of the holiday happenings, as well as any other Walt Disney World Resort news, be sure to follow the Disney Parks Blog.  Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
