We are planning on visiting the Magic Kingdom on May 1st, which happens to be my daughter's birthday. Just wondering if you need a park pass to go have brunch at Chef Mickey's, or can we go on a different day in order to enjoy the Magic Kingdom?

Hi, Mathieu! The memories you will have celebrating your daughter’s first birthday at the Most Magical Place on Earth will be truly unforgettable!

I am happy to inform you that Chef Mickey’s is a Character Dining buffet meal located inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort, so no theme park admission is necessary. Since Mickey and some of his favorite pals make surprise appearances throughout your meal, Chef Mickey’s is extremely popular, especially during breakfast times, so I suggest making sure you book a reservation 60 days before the start of your vacation.

If your goal is to celebrate your daughter’s birthday at the Magic Kingdom and maximize your time in the park, I would suggest making your reservation for Chef Mickey’s on a different day. Enjoy things like the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and Happily Ever After, it will make her feel like the parade and fireworks were done specifically for her birthday! Plus, if you make your dining reservation for a different day, it will allow you to enjoy a more relaxing meal and the ability to explore the resort, rather than rushing back to the park!

Mathieu, if you do end up making your reservation for a different day, and you are staying at one of the amazing Disney Resorts Collection hotels, you can take advantage of the complimentary transportation options to make your way to the entrance of the Magic Kingdom and then use the walking path to the Disney’s Contemporary Resort to make your Chef Mickey’s reservation. Or, if you have a vehicle for your vacation, you can also take advantage of complimentary parking at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Simply show the Cast Member working at the entrance to the parking lot your dining reservation on your My Disney Experience app, and you will be good to go!

I hope this helps with your Disney World vacation planning, Mathieu. I hope you not only get your dining reservation at Chef Mickey’s to enjoy copious amounts of Mickey waffles, but I hope your daughter has the happiest of birthdays! Don’t forget to stop by City Hall in the Magic Kingdom to get your daughter a Happy Birthday button to wear on her special day!

    Thanks,
    Brent
