Planning on visiting AK on 22nd April for after hours event - Park closes at 20.00 but opens for event at 21.00 - what can we do in that spare hour ? Are rides open to join if we have after hours ticket?

Hello there, Bea! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Since April 22nd is Earth Day, there is no where better to celebrate than Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Bea, in addition to all of the attractions, thrill rides and dining options, on April 22nd, you'll see lots of extras around the park if you're there during the day! Check out the Disney Park Blog for all of the information.

Now... for when the sun goes down... I can personally tell you that Disney After Hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom is tons of fun! First, you'll be happy to know that you will be able to still experience some daytime activities in that hour. While the park officially closes at 8:00 p.m., if you are in line for an attraction prior to that, you will be able to ride before the event begins at 9:00 p.m. For example, when my husband and I attended this separately ticketed event last year, we got in line for Kilimanjaro Safaris before 8:00 p.m. and then rode since this is not open during the Disney After Hours event. Don't forget, guests without a daytime ticket can enter the park at 7:00 p.m!

Bea, I'm excited for you to experience the lower crowds and fun of this event. When I was there we were able to ride Expedition Everest- Legend of the Forbidden Mountain two times in a row, not to mention minimal wait times for Na'vi River Journey and Avatar- Flight of Passage!

I hope this helps as you are getting ready for your upcoming holiday! Best wishes for a Magical time,
