We are planning a visit 12/7 to 12/10 of this year with our 2 girls., 3 and 6. What are the crowds expected to be with the opening of Fantasyland? Are they normally busy during the weekends in December? Would A weekend in May be better?

    Hi Lauren,

I'm not sure what crowds are expected to be like with the opening, but I would guess that that area of Magic Kingdom will be quite crowded.  If seeing that area is a priority (which I'm guessing it is with little princesses) you might be better off waiting until May to visit.  Weekends in May are beautiful, and as long as you avoid Memorial Day Weekend the crowds are generally manageable.

Having said that, my guess is that the popularity of Fantasyland might drive more traffic to Magic Kingdom.  December would be a great time for exploring Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
