Am planning a visit to WDW May 17-23. Will be getting 3 rooms and trying to decide between Pop Century and Art or Animation. What are the pros and cons of each. Thanks

    Hi Kathy,

Your visit is getting closer and I am sure you are really getting excited! Disney's Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort are my two favorite value level hotels at Walt Disney World.

Disney's Pop Century Resort has really fun theming from the last 5 decades of the 20th century and I absolutely love seeing the larger than life statues of the iconic symbols of those times. This hotel is older than Art of Animation, but I still think it holds a lot of nostalgic magic. This resort consists of all standard rooms and all buildings have exterior hallways. There are 3 pool areas and lots of fun activities daily at the Hippy Dippy Pool (weather permitting). Depending on the age group of your traveling party, really young kids might not "get" the theming of this resort.

Disney's Art of Animation Resort is the newest resort at Walt Disney World. Some of Disney's most recent classic movies come to life at this hotel, including Cars, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. There are family suites in the Cars, Finding Nemo, and Lion King sections. These suites can accommodate up to 6 people, rather than 4 in a standard room. The buildings with the family suites have interior hallways, which minimizes the outside noise level in my opinion. The Little Mermaid section is the only one with standard room. So, if this is what you are looking for, the availability may be more limited. The pools here are absolutely fantastic. The Big Blue Pool is the largest on property and features a heated, zero-entry pool with splash area and music underwater! In regards to location, both resorts are about the same and transportation to and from both is about equal.

I hope I was able to offer some insight into both so that you can make an informed decision for your family.

Have a magical trip. It will be here before you can say "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"
