We are planning a visit to WDW in January 2014, and understand the Disney Marathon takes place during the 2nd week. What is the least busy time to attend, the week before or the week after the marathon? Thank you in advance :)

    Hi Tara,

You are absolutely correct! In fact, registration opened today for the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon. If you are planning for a January visit and would like to avoid the crowds from the race weekend, I would recommend going the 3rd or 4th week of January. Since there may still be some holiday stragglers the first week of January, then the end of January might be more appealing to you.

Keep in mind, though, that it is very hard to predict exactly what the crowd levels will be from year to year, but, either way, January is typically a great time to go and enjoy the light crowds.

    Happy Planning!
