We are planning a visit mid Sept and will be a 3 gen family trip. What are the best attractions and shows? Also how can we avoid being in heat for too long? Kids (11 and 16) and grandparents will have 4 days in Orlando.

Hello Lisa and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Traveling with multiple generations is an amazing way to experience the Walt Disney World Resort! This past spring I was lucky enough to travel with FOUR generations- it was a blast!

Which attractions are the "best" depends on your preference. If you are in it for the thrills I would recommend The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Test Track at Epcot, Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom, and Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom. If you are interested in the more mild attractions I would go with Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Soarin' at Epcot and It's a Small World at Magic Kingdom (only because Pirates of the Caribbean is currently being refurbished through September 25). With your age range I would recommend a good dose of both thrill rides and the classics.

As far as shows go, in my opinion,  Disney's Animal Kingdom wins hands down! Both Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo- The Musical are Broadway caliber productions. Another favorite of ours is Flights of Wonder.

September weather can indeed be quite hot. Many of the attractions are inside and air conditioned and this makes the heat pretty tolerable. In order to beat the heat, I recommend hitting the parks early, making sure you drink plenty of water and taking frequent breaks.

I hope this helps with your planning.  See ya real soon!

I’m Anne, a native Iowan, wife, mother, and grandmother. For me, a major part of the fun of a Disney trip is the planning. I have traveled to the Disney Parks in multiple stages of my life, including as a daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother.  One of my favorite things to do is to travel with multi-generational groups. I am thrilled to be able to help other Disney guests plan their adventures. Learn More About Anne
