Hi Ashley!
I hope you're having a
SPLASH-tacular start to the new year. . .and a wonderful time planning your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort! I had the chance to visit both water parks last summer for the first time in several years and had a blast with my tween son. He gave both
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park his top seal of approval - and I couldn't agree with him more!
Ashley, it sounds like you have already started doing your homework and researching the operating schedules for the water parks this year. Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is open, but it is scheduled to close temporarily beginning February 15, 2026. Blizzard Beach, which is closed at the moment, is set to reopen on February 15th. This follows the pattern we've seen recently with the water parks alternating operating schedules in the winter months. As of right now, Disney has not shared when Typhoon Lagoon will be reopening and if both water parks will be open this summer. While we can't say for sure what will happen this year, I can share that
last year both water parks were in operation during the summer months.
Regardless of whether you end up visiting Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach (or maybe both at some point this year?!?), you'll find something for everyone - from relaxing lazy river rides to thrilling body slides. If I had to pick just one attraction at each water park, I'd choose the excitement of
Crush 'n' Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon and the family-fun of
Teamboat Springs at Blizzard Beach. You can also find our favorite sweet treat, the Sand Pail Sundae, at both water parks! If you decide to dive into this delicious treat, be sure to grab some extra spoons for your family and friends, as this one is big enough to share!
Since you're planning a visit in May, don't forget to check out the
Water Park Seasonal Pass. Not only do you get a great deal on unlimited visits to the water parks through May 9, 2026 (blockout dates apply ), but you can also enjoy one complimentary round of miniature golf during the usage window and a discount on same-day rentals for either Polar Patios or Beachcomber Shacks when available. If you're looking for even more fun outside of the theme parks on your visit, I'd suggest checking out the entertainment and dining options at both
Disney Springs and
Disney's BoardWalk as a great starting point.
Ashley, while I wish I had more to share with you, I hope this information at least helps you start planning! I'd definitely recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest announcements about upcoming plans for the water parks in 2026. With details on the return of the
Water Park Benefit this summer for Guests of Disney Resorts Collection hotels still to be released, I'm guessing there will be more news coming soon!
