We're planning a visit with a 2.5 y/o and 5 y/o. We may or may not stay at AKL. How much time do you think our kids will need to view / ride all attractions appropriate for their age? If we do stay at AKL, is AK close enough to come/go for short visits.

    Hi Julie!

I would definitely recommend staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  I stayed there in December 2012 and it was incredible.  If you can afford it I would also recommend a room with a savanna view because you and your family will be entertained by viewing African animals right outside your room's sliding glass door and you can watch them right from the outdoor balcony in your room!  I think that a full day would be about right for your children to experience all that the Animal Kingdom has to offer children.  You could break up the day into short visits because Animal Kingdom is a 5 to 10 minute bus ride from the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  You could even go back to your room for naps in the middle of the day.

I hope that your next Walt Disney World vacation is truly magical for you and your family!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
