We are planning a visit in May 2011, our boys will be 2 and 3, we were planning on purchasing the dining plan, and I was wondering if we should/need to purchase a dining plan for the boys, I read that they eat free? Is this true, if so how does this work?

Hi, Jonathan!   How exciting to be planning your magical WDW vacation!

Once your child turns 3, he will need a park ticket and his own Dining Plan.   This will allow him to have his own meals without sharing.   The cost for the Dining Plan for kids ages 3 - 9 is very reasonable (around $12 per day, subject to change) and often pays for itself with just one character meal!    For your 2 year old, he can share off of your plate, or you can purchase him his own meal (kids meals are about $5 in quick service locations, around $8 at table service locations.

When my kids were under 3, we booked many buffets, as this was the easiest way to share meals and it was unlimited, so there was plenty to share and we could get "kid food" for the little ones and "grown-up food" for ourselves.

If you need more information, please let me know!  Good luck planning for your May trip.

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
