We are planning to visit Florida in May 2021. Can you advise on what construction work/closures will be going on around this time As we don’t want it to affect our trip with the kids. Is there any way to find out exactly what work will be going on?

    Hi Charlotte,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! A visit to the Walt Disney World Resort is a big deal. Anytime we visit the Most Magical Place on Earth we want the visit to be, well, magical! It can feel less than magical to discover one of your favorite attractions is closed for refurbishment. However, with the vast number of attractions in the parks, they do occasionally need to be closed for maintenance, deep cleaning, or a freshening of paint.

Plus as Walt Disney said, “Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” That means even our favorite attractions can be updated, changed, or even removed. I am always a bit sad when an attraction changes but I have learned that it usually makes room for something even better.

Some refurbishments are scheduled months in advance and sometimes they happen suddenly. If I were you, I would keep an eye on the official Park Hours. At the top of the Park Hours page, you can select Month View, 5-Day View, Day View, or Park Hours. If you select Day View or Park Hours you can see which attractions are Closed for Refurbishment. I also keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements of changes coming to the parks.

Charlotte, thank you for visiting us with your question. I hope you will let us know if we can help you with any other planning questions.
Wishing you happy planning and a magical holiday,
    Amy H.
