We are planning a visit the first week of December 2019 and would like to attend Mickey’s Christmas Party on 12/3. I also noticed that on a Monday 12/2 that the park is scheduled to close early at around 4:30p. Is there another ticket event scheduled?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kristen!

I love so much about this question! You will be visiting Walt Disney World during the merriest, most magical time of year – there is nothing quite like being part of the holly-jolly, festive fun all around the theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs, and nobody decks the halls quite like Disney. I also love hearing that you’ll be visiting Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which is my favorite special event of the year. I’ve already got my ticket and cannot wait to see my favorite characters: Santa’s reindeer!

I checked the Park Hours, and I do see that Magic Kingdom Park will be closing at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019. This can happen, and is usually because a private event is scheduled. I was visiting Walt Disney World with my fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists in early December 2017, and we also experienced an evening when Magic Kingdom Park closed around this time. It made my heart so happy to hear that the park was closed because of a special event celebrating Cast Members – they closed down the park and had a party to say thank you for the hard work, pixie dust, and incredible service provided by those magical people. My friends and I were able to watch Magic Kingdom Park’s fireworks from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa that night, and it’s a really special memory for me.

Kristen, park hours are subject to change, so I recommend checking as you get closer to your visit just to see if anything changes. Also, remember that Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will all be open into the evening hours, so you’ll be welcome to head to one of those parks for your evening fun. I absolutely adore Disney’s Hollywood Studios at night during the holidays, when the Flurry of Fun lights up the night with so many seasonal spectacles. Somebody get me a peppermint mocha, because I’m having some holiday feelings right now!

Have so much fun planning your holiday visit! Be sure to read the Disney Parks Blog for the latest news – as we get closer to your visit, you’ll get to hear all about the scrumptious treats available and add them to your to-taste list (I'm pretty sure mine’s longer than Santa’s list). As you do your Disney dreaming, please come back and see us if you have any further questions – we’re happy to help you make your list and check it twice!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
