Planning 1st visit - family of 5 (kids 9,9,5) week of Thxgvg. Driving from TX. Have pretty tight budget and torn between Value and Moderate resort options. Plan to get dining plan but other than that, don't know where to start. Any help appreciated

    Allison:

With a family of 5, unfortunately your resort choices are a bit limited on Disney property.  (And I should know, I've got a family of 6!)  However, you do have choices, and they are solid ones!

The only Value Resort that will accommodate five is All-Star Music and its Family Suites.  The suites offer two bathrooms, a kitchenette with microwave and small frig, a bedroom and a large living area that will sleep four.

A standard room at the Moderate Port Orleans: Riverside, though, is even more affordable than the family suite and because you're on the dining plan, may be a better fit.  It sleeps five with its trundle bed, and the resort offers a boat to Downtown Disney.  Our family stayed there and LOVED it.  The landscaping made you feel like you were at one of the Deluxe resorts, not to mention the boat and water activities.

Thanksgiving week is pretty popular, so I'd go ahead and make your reservations!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
