Planning to visit Disneyland in January 2024. Haven't been since 2016. Very difficult to understand the new system for me. When I check availability calendar for reservations my dates of 1/22 & 1/23 indicate no reservations available. Help!

    Hiya Angie!

Welcome to planDisney! Congrats on taking the first step in planning a trip to Disneyland Resort! I'm excited to be able to help you through what could be a confusing time.

Since 2016, a lot has changed with visiting Disneyland Resort but so much of Walt Disney's original dream remains. As we are nearing the end of the Disney100 Celebration it has been a unique time of remembering the classics of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and seeing how Disney Imagineering has grown with Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. Theme Park Reservations were set in place in 2021 to limit capacity in the Parks and manage resources. There are different availabilities to guests based on the type of admission ticket they are using as well. I don't know what type of ticket you have but I am assuming it is a Standard Theme Park Ticket which is showing reservation availability for January 22 and January 23, 2024. I checked availability with the 1 Park Per Day Ticket, Park Hopper Ticket, Kids' Special Ticket Offer, and the SoCal Ticket Offer and there is reservation availability for all of them! I even tried to figure out availability if you had a Magic Key, which is the name of the annual pass offered by Disneyland Resort, and found plenty of availability for those two dates.

I'm not sure why you are not finding availability but there is as of today so I would go ahead and purchase your tickets quickly and make your reservations! Something else that's new is the Disney Genie and Disney Genie+ Service. Disney Genie is complimentary and can be explored through the Disneyland App. Disney Genie just helps plan your day with suggestions about what to enjoy next when in the Parks. You set it up with your preferences and goals and it creates your itinerary. If you want to take it to the next level then you can upgrade by purchasing Disney Genie+ which will give you access to Lightning Lanes. Lightning Lanes are queues at several attractions that tend to have a much shorter wait. You reserve access to these entrances using the Disneyland App after purchasing Disney Genie+. I love using Genie+ as I hate waiting in long lines and love the fact that it includes access to all the digital images taken by Disney PhotoPass photographers.
Maybe this is something to consider to make your trip go smoothly.

If you have any more questions feel free to come back as we are glad to help!

    Happy Planning!
