Kachow, Lauren!
Welcome to planDisney. Thank you so much for racing by with your question! How exciting that your visit to Walt Disney World is just around the bend. Since you are getting close to your trip, I'll be speedy with your answer.
Lauren, if you are a day Guest at Walt Disney World, you will be able to purchase your
Lightning Lane Multipass for each Guest in your party beginning three days from your theme park visit date. You will also be able to purchase the Single Lane passes - if you would like them - three days ahead of your park date at this time as well. One thing to note is that Guests staying on property at Disney Resort Hotels have the option to do this beginning seven days ahead of their check-in date for the entirety of their stay.
Now, when you purchase your Lightning Lane Multipass, three days before your theme park date, you will be able to make your first three selections for the first park you are visiting that day. You CAN use the Multipass at both parks if you have a Park Hopper, but you will only be able to make your first three pre-selections at the first park prior to your arrival. Once you arrive a the first park and tap into your first attraction, you can then
make another selection at either your first park or your second park. You just can't make any pre-selections at more than one park prior to tapping into the first attraction.
So, for example, if EPCOT is your first park, you will be able to make your first three Lightning Lane selections for EPCOT when you purchase your Lightning Lane Multipass. Once you tap into your first attraction in EPCOT, you can choose to make another selection in EPCOT, or you can choose one for later in the day in your second park, in your case, Animal Kingdom. You can only be holding up to three Lightning Lane Multipass selections at a time, regardless of whether they are in the same park or in two different parks (in the case of having a Park Hopper ticket).
Now, one thing to note as well is that in three of the parks (Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT), there are two "tiers" of attractions. When making your first three selections for these parks (or any subsequent selections in these parks), you can choose one attraction in "tier one" and two attractions in "tier two", or you can make all three selections in "tier two." This is important because when you tap into an attraction in EPCOT, for example, and go to select a new attraction in EPCOT, you will only be able to select a new one based on the tiers. Just as you can always be holding no more than three Lightning Lane Multipass reservations at a time, you can also only hold one "tier one" selection and two "tier two" selections, or three "tier two" selections, at a time. You can see the c
omplete list of attractions here.If you plan to also purchase Single Lane Passes for both EPCOT and Animal Kingdom, you can purchase these both beginning three days in advance of your theme park visit date. Since you will be using a Park Hopper ticket, you will be able to purchase these on the same day.
I hope this helps you, Lauren. If you have any further Disney Vacation Planning questions, race back here to see me and I'll be happy to help you faster than faster and quicker than quick.
Git-R-Done!
