We are planning to visit for our childrens first time this May. They are 20 months old and have been through so much...being born almost 4 months early. Is there anything special the WDW hotels can do to make our arrival special?

You are tugging at my heart! I’m a mother of a 28-week preemie. When he was born, I’m told that I kept crying “but I just want to take him to Disney World”. As you know the struggles, we didn’t know at the time if that would ever be possible. Two years later, we walked down Main Street U.S.A with our son between us and our extended family looking on. Dreams do come true!

Now for your extremely special celebration -
I would have your celebrations marked on all your reservations (hotel and dining). Mention again at Check In and when arriving each restaurant podium of your special visit. Magical surprises often happen although they are not guaranteed.

You can contact the Disney Florist (407-827-3505) to arrange balloons and/or a gift basket to be waiting for your children. Depending on your resort hotel, you may be able to order a cake to be delivered to your room. To reach the Cake Hotline (isn’t that a wonderful thing?!) call 407-827-2253. Remember to give 48 hours advance notice for personalized cakes. These cakes are available at some sit down restaurants and at some resort hotels.

If you have something far grander in mind, do not hesitate to contact your resort. Walt Disney World offers many magical memories, although some are at a grand price as well. We had Mickey Mouse at our Vow Renewal which was also during our son’s first WDW trip. When Mickey arrived we sang Happy Birthday to my 2-year old preemie. By calling 407-WDW-BDAY (939-2329), you’ll be given many options for birthday parties. From a celebration at the NeverLand Club at the Polynesian including character(s) to birthday celebration cruises, this is the place to call for organizing a party.

However, it was the more simple moments that were the most special. Walking in to the Magic Kingdom for the first time, giggling during a Dumbo ride, meeting Mickey for the first time at Chef Mickey’s Restaurant and waving to friends during the parades.

I wish you a magical visit!
