We are planning on going on Vacation to Walt Disney World in October. There will be 6 of us; 2 Adults, 2 Children 10 & 4, 2 -18 yr old. What would be the best option in stay for our party at the resort? The best bang for the buck?

    Hi Scott!
When I think about budget and accommodations for larger families visiting Walt Disney World, I like to suggest either the All Star Music-Family Suite or the Cabins at Ft. Wilderness. They both allow 6 guests to sleep.
The All Star Music Family Suite, at a Value resort, is slightly more affordable usually. I like that the Family Suites have two bathrooms. It also has a kitchenette. There is a queen bed in one area, and in the other is the living area that converts with the sleeper sofa and 2 sleeper chairs. Disney transportation is by bus here.
If you think you'll want to do some cooking, possibly to save money, then a full kitchen and having a bbq grill is in order and I'd suggest a Cabin at Ft. Wilderness. It has a "murphy bed" in the living area, and a bedroom with a double bed and bunk beds. Another thing I like about staying at Ft. Wilderness is that you have the water launch as an additional method of transportation to Magic Kingdom. If the activities and recreation offered at the resort are important to you, than I must tell you that the Ft. Wilderness has been the most fun for my family and I have found there is so much to do and discover, that we take a day or two off from visiting the parks just to have fun and some down time without ever leaving the resort.
Alternatively, you could book 2 Value resort rooms and request they be connecting. This would be most affordable, but it does not include the kitchenette and renting a refrigerator (if you would like one) will usually eat up the cost difference between this option and a Family Suite at ASMusic. But most importantly, it is not guaranteed that a guest will receive the adjoining rooms and even though they do their best to accommodate guests' requests, I like to play it safe when I'm on vacation!
There's plenty for you to think about, but I hope this helps you decide the best way to enjoy the magic of Disney World, and you can always come back to the Moms Panel for any more help!
