I am planning a vacation for spring 2022. We are trying to figure out which hotel to stay at. My daughter will be coming and she has asthma. We are looking for a hotel with limited walking or if there is a specific room type we should ask for.

    Hello Heather,

Spring vacation to Walt Disney World Resort will be such a wonderful thing for your whole family to look forward to as 2022 approaches.  There's nothing quite like having a Disney countdown on the calendar!

As the mother of a (now grown-up) son with asthma, I can relate to your concerns for your dear daughter when trying to limit any extra walking for her wherever possible.  It goes without saying that a Disney vacation involves a lot of walking.  In fact, it's said that Guests traverse an average of 20,000 steps a day during a Disney vacation!  Therefore, anything Guests with health concerns can do to limit excessive walking would certainly be a positive thing.

I'm more than happy to share that there are many Services for Guests with Disabilities at Disney Resorts Collection Hotels including this handy email address - disability.services@disneyparks.com where Guests are able to discuss their particular needs (such as a request for a Resort room with a shorter walking distance from the lobby area) with knowledgeable Cast Members.

Additionally, you may wish to simply choose a Preferred Room when booking your Disney Resorts Collection hotel as these rooms are located closer to the lobby and transportation areas.  For Example, Disney's Pop Century Resort offers Guests both a Preferred Room and a Preferred Pool View option.

Also, during the Online Check-in process via My Disney Experience for a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, Guests are able to place room requests such as - near the lobby, near an elevator, ground-floor room, and so on.  However, it's always worth remembering that requests can never be guaranteed at Walt Disney World Resort.

Heather, I hope I've been able to provide a little additional insight today.  If you have any further questions regarding your vacation to Walt Disney World Resort, then please do pop back to planDisney to ask me another question.
