planning a vacation in may2010, are the value resorts well kept and clean or should we upgrade to a moderate resort. this will be our 1st trip to wdw and want to make it memorable and not have to deal with a hassel of a dirty room. that has happened to us!

    Hi Tracy,

My family and I have never had a bad experience in a Disney Value Resort.  I also don't personally know of anybody who has had a bad experience.  That is not to say that it doesn't happen; just that I haven't experienced it.  I really enjoy Pop Century and think it is a great value.  I recommend that all families on a budget consider staying there.  It also has one of the best food courts on property in my opinion!

However, my family usually stays in a Disney Moderate or Disney Deluxe Resort.  We like the upgraded service and amenities.  We like having a Table Service Restaurant on property.  The theming of the resort is also very important to me, and I like the theming of the Moderates much more than the Value resorts.  Also, the pool is very important to my children and they love water slides.  None of the Value Resorts have a water slide at their pool.

My personal favorite Disney Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside.  I especially love the Alligator Bayou section of the resort; i love the feel of the rustic cottages.  My children, ages 5 and 10, love the main feature pool there.  It is nicely themed and it has a great slide.

If you decide to go with a Disney Deluxe Resort, my favorite is the Wilderness Lodge.  It is fabulous.  In fact, even if you don't stay there, I recommend making a dinner reservation at the Whispering Canyon Cafe.  It is a lot of fun for the whole family and will give you a chance to experience a little of that amazing resort!

Enjoy planning your vacation and write back if you have any more questions!
